Swedish-American doctor, psychic medium, and former atheist Dr. Lotte Valentin shares how she stumbled into Heaven and was told she doesn’t belong there. In summer 1992, Lotte went to the emergency room for chronic internal bleeding. She started bleeding again—badly. She tried to sit up to speak but said she didn’t feel good. Doctors and nurses rushed in as Lotte could no longer keep her eyes open. She felt like she was falling, as if jumping from a plane without a parachute.
Lotte knew she was dying. As an atheist, she had no beliefs— death meant total darkness and nothingness. But she recalled religious teachings from age 14. She prayed to God to save her, saying she had three children under six who needed their mother. Soon after, Lotte was suddenly pulled out of her body, floating a few feet above it. She could see herself below yet still felt like herself, thinking how impossible it was to be outside her body yet still be Lotte. Almost immediately, she was pulled back in. The medical team cheered; they had revived her.
The next day in her hospital room, she heard the voice of her sister-in-law— who had died ten days earlier from lung cancer— from the upper left corner of the ceiling. The voice said, “Everything’s going to be okay.” Lotte questioned if she was losing her mind but told no one, fearing she would be deemed unstable and separated from her children. A nurse asked if anything unusual had happened the day before. Never having heard of near-death experiences, Lotte said no, nothing unusual. She was sent home and slept for six to seven weeks from anemia [low blood iron].
Afterward, electronics malfunctioned around her. Lotte’s watch stopped after five days— three different watches, same result. Two months later, as she walked past the TV, it turned on by itself. The remote was on the table, and the kids were outside. Seeking logical proof, she checked with eight neighbors—none had been using a remote. When she returned inside, the TV turned on again. Electrical disturbances continued. Months later, in the middle of the night, she sensed her uncle above the foot of the bed. He said he had crossed over and was transitioning. She expected her mom in Sweden to call, but no one called the next day. On the third day, her mom called with sad news. Lotte said she knew: her uncle had passed three days ago. Silence followed. Finally, her mom said, “Wow, you’re just like your grandmother.”
Two years later, Lotte had a second near-death experience. In the middle of the night, she woke with a pounding head. She lifted her head from the pillow— and instantly her soul exited her body. This time, she felt like she was tumbling through darkness or space. She arrived at what she called “the mid-station,” similar to stepping off on the 50th floor of a 100-story building, sensing levels above and below.
“So I get to this level, and the first thing I hear is the most beautiful Music that you could ever imagine. And I’m wondering where is this Music coming from? And so I look to my right, and I see a little log cabin. Literally, it looks like a Swedish sauna. And I’m thinking, well, the Music might be coming from that cabin. So I look inside, but it’s empty. So then I kind of look to my left and I see another log cabin, which is a mirror image of the one on the right. And I open the door, and I look inside, but it’s empty. Then I become aware of this kind of a growing Light, almost like a fog rolling in. Imagine standing in a fog with a spotlight shining in the fog. It’s the brightest, whitest Light you can imagine. And as I’m standing in this Light, I turn around, then I see the Music is coming from the Light. But in the Light, there is an outline of angels, and the Music is coming from these angels. Which I did not believe in, right? So it goes against my own belief system. By being in this Light, I also understand that I am with Divine Source. There is a knowing that we are part of that Divine Source. We carry that Light within us. We are that. We are part of It. And we return to that unconditional love and support when we pass on, when we transition.”
Lotte then became aware of entities she later called spirit guides. She recalled no faces, just energetic presences. Telepathically, the one on her right said to the one on her left, “What is she doing here? She can’t be here. She has to go back!” Lotte said, “No, no, no, wait a second. How can I be outside my body and still be me? How does this work?” She had spent two years since her first near-death experience contemplating this. The left guide replied, “Well, if I told you, you wouldn’t remember— but you will remember this.” A picture appeared like a movie screen. It was as though Lotte stood on the Moon; she viewed Earth encircled by a silvery, glittery, diamond-shaped net. The spirit guide said, “Everything on Earth is connected to each other, but everything on Earth is connected up to this grid.” With that knowledge, she was sent back.
Once a non-believer, Lotte now shares that everyone has intuitive gifts and carries the Light within. It’s just a matter of opening the channel. The key from her experiences: life is eternal. The body houses the spirit, like hardware needs software. The soul is the software running the body. Like data stored in the cloud, the soul holds all experiences. When the body dies like a crashed computer, the soul stays in the cloud. When it chooses to start a new life, it downloads those experiences into a new body.
“We’ve all been the bad person and the nice person. We’ve all been male and female. We’ve been all different kinds of races. We’ve lived all over the world. Once you get to that understanding that we are all connected— we are all one— to have all these wars and racism is just ridiculous, because we’re all the same in the end. So if people say, ‘Oh, I hate this nationality.’ Maybe you will be that in your next life because you’re hating on them now. So in the next life, you’re going to go and be the hated one, because that is also what you’re putting out. Because everything that we put out, it’s also reflected back to us.” (Shaman Oaks)
